Through topics, approach and purposes, the course Communication in English is primarily addressed to the bachelor and master students in legal sciences, but also to the students in international relations, European studies, or administrative sciences.

The units of the book refer mainly to the English legal system, to principles and institutions of law. In terms of themes, the book is an introduction to the English law, addressing a series of defining elements at the conceptual and institutional levels. Studying these topics helps students acquire fundamental knowledge or strengthen and develop previously acquired concepts. The volume is a support for the enrichment of the students’ knowledge in the English and compared law areas and therefore a means of progress in academic education, in scientific research, in the specialized training and professional development. At the same time, by the topics proposed, the book is a way of enlarging the general culture, of accessing knowledge through academic education. In this context, the target public of the book can exceed the category of the specialized studies students and may include all those interested in developing their general culture and language skills.

This introduction to the English law universe is made through the English language. The whole approach is subordinated to the idea of specialized communication in English. The themes developed shape the conceptual and textual support for the students’ linguistic training in English. Such training aims to form qualified communication skills and competencies in English to the students, at a general level and in the specialized study areas, at standards of professional communication and proficiency. To this end, the course makes use of a complex approach, that concerns, by the variety of exercises, fundamental levels of the English language learning: general and specialized vocabulary, grammar items, written and oral expression in English, i.e. essential communication skills, necessary to the professional development. Thus, education and knowledge are further put under the auspices of communication, namely the specialized communication.

In these terms, Communication in English is a useful instrument for those who want to improve, specialize and train their knowledge of English, a guide in the linguistic labyrinth of English and in the English law universe.
