The Course English and American Legal Topics is aimed at the students in law, but also in international relations, European studies and political sciences, at the bachelor and master levels. The doctoral students and professionals in the fields can also find an academic support in it regarding the qualified information in the legal sciences areas. The book contains six units covering fundamental topics of the English and American law. From this point of view, it is an academic comparative approach examining in parallel two legal systems in some major issues. Each unit represents a complex thematic structure, built upon the foundation of a support text, to which different sets of exercises are applied involving specialized vocabulary, language and grammar knowledge, specialty concepts and institutions, specific elements of legal culture. Each unit and the whole course focus on language, communication, culture and knowledge. In other words, the course has as a main concern the development of the English language knowledge, focused on specialized English, and, at the same time, the development of the students’ communication skills. Essentially, it is an academic course subsumed to a fundamental objective: specialty communication or professional communication in English. The course also aims to help students acquire specialized knowledge in the interest areas, but also in broader, complementary study fields, and develop their specialty culture, open to the general culture horizons. It is an equally important objective of the book, under the auspices of academic knowledge. The six units of the book are complemented by a chapter focused on English grammar, entitled Grammar Essentials, by an extensive list of irregular verbs, by a comprehensive specialized vocabulary, and by a vast bibliography, as supporting elements in the academic study process. The Course English and American Legal Topics is, at the same time, a guide and a support in the academic education and research process, in a complex field of expertise, but also a challenge to study, proficient communication and knowledge in English.
